VDI Award

The general meeting of the Bochum district association of the VDI took place on 16.02.2024.
As in previous years, outstanding theses from the three Bochum universities were honored here.
Two graduates from our department were honored: Jonathan Zerbe, who wrote his master's thesis entitled "Climate-neutral heating and cooling supply strategies for the Ruhr-Universität Bochum" under the supervision of Michel Gross, and Katharina Esser, who wrote her master's thesis entitled "Dealing with uncertainties in the energy supply of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum with "Modeling to Generate Alternatives" under the supervision of Jonas Finke.
The theses are particularly characterized by their focus on the energy system of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
The respective topics were worked on by Mr. Zerbe and Ms. Esser in a committed and independent manner and offer an important contribution to strategies for decarbonizing the campus.
Award winners presented their work in short specialist lectures, which were received with interest and discussed by the visitors.
After the awarding of the certificates, the evening was rounded off with the traditional kale dinner.
